COVID-19 measures and operation status of luxury hotels in Tokyo
~ Keio Plaza / Hotel Okura / The Capitol Hotel Tokyu ~
Japan has lifted its nationwide emergency declaration in late May and Tokyo has decided to move on to the stage 3 in which restaurants and bars are allowed to open until midnight and events can be held with up to 1,000 capacity.
Popular tourist destinations, such as teamLab, are open and people in Japan are encouraged to travel domestically to support the travel industry*.
Many hotels and ryokans that opted to close during the emergency declaration have back to open while implementing new COVID-19 measures though they have had a strict cleaning protocol in place on a routine basis.
Keio Plaza, Hotel Okura, and The Capitol Hotel Tokyu, among the top luxury hotels in Tokyo, have operated without interruption during the emergency declaration and have implemented special cleaning and preventative measures with all hotel staffs involved.
Toshi visited each hotel and interviewed about the measures and operations.
* Currently, Japan has imposed travel restrictions on travelers from over 100 countries, including the U.S. and U.K.
